Abstract The ability to delay gratification is related success in school and other aspects of life. Genetic as well environmental factors such parenting style partly explain the development (DoG). However, it unclear whether parental personality impacts children’s DoG, how maternal paternal personalities contribute this relationship. present study investigates relationship between 45-month-old DoG ( N = 329). Personality was measured using NEO-Five-Factor-Inventory-30, operationalized through waiting time marshmallow test. In model 1, only data predict openness experience associated with shorter child test, whereas agreeableness longer time. 2, 3, combining remained significant predictors DoG. underlines influence both parents’ on indicates differential effects. Future studies should investigate detail take further into account, genetic factors, child.
